Coaching, demystified
If you’re curious about coaching but not quite sure how it works — you’re not alone.
Below are some common questions I hear, especially from people new to this kind of work.
The difference between a regular conversation and a coaching conversation is that coaching is goal-oriented. I won’t give you advice, tell you what to do, or act like I’ve got all the answers — because I don’t. My role is to help you cultivate your thinking, unlock your own insights, and access the inner wisdom that’s already within you. It’s your journey and I’m here to guide it.
Each session begins with a clear intention — something specific you’d like to explore or achieve. From there, we work together to look at where you are now, what your potential looks like, and what’s getting in the way — the interference between the two. We’ll explore your current reality, the challenges you’re facing, and the beliefs or patterns that might be holding you back. Then, we shift into opportunity — identifying practical steps, new perspectives, and areas for growth. We’ll co-create actions that align with your values, and I’ll hold you accountable for follow-through. It’s a space for reflection, insight, and forward movement — always at your pace, and always centred around your goals.
Every client is different, and results depend on your unique goals — but most outcomes fall into two categories: internal shifts and external progress.
Internally, clients often report increased clarity, calm, confidence, motivation, self-awareness, and a deeper sense of alignment. They feel more grounded, energised, and empowered to make meaningful decisions. Externally, coaching might help you: Navigate a career change, improve relationships (with others — or with yourself), step into leadership, build healthier boundaries, unlock creative or professional momentum, and feel more fulfilled in your day-to-day life.
The results are real — but they come from your effort. I’ll be here to guide, challenge, and support you along the way.
Therapy often focuses on understanding the past — including trauma, emotional wounds, and deep-rooted patterns. Coaching will also explore personal insight, but it’s primarily focused on the present and future: Where are you now? Where are you headed? What’s getting in the way? Think of it like this: Therapy is about seeing the light. Coaching is about walking towards it.
Because the work is bespoke, I tailor my packages to fit each client — which makes it hard to give a one-size-fits-all figure. That said, I’m committed to keeping my packages accessible and competitive, and probably more affordable than you think. We’ll discuss this clearly and openly after your discovery session.
That’s totally okay. Many people begin coaching with just a feeling — a sense of being stuck, unfulfilled, or ready for change. The discovery session helps us explore what’s going on beneath the surface and where we might focus.
Coaching isn’t designed to last forever — it’s a focused, intentional process. Most clients work with me for 6 to 12 sessions, depending on the depth of their goals. Sessions are usually held fortnightly, giving you space between conversations to reflect, apply insights, and take meaningful action. Because coaching is goal-oriented, you’ll typically notice progress as we go — and once you’ve reached clarity or resolution, our work naturally comes to a close. Coaching isn’t something to get stuck in for years. It’s a catalyst for change, not a crutch.
Not at all. Some people begin with a clear goal in mind — others just have a sense that something needs to shift. You might be feeling stuck, unfulfilled, or simply ready for change, but unsure what that looks like yet. That’s completely normal. One of the first things we’ll do together is explore what’s going on beneath the surface and shape that into something more focused. Clarity often emerges through the process.
That’s completely okay, many of my clients are new to coaching. You don’t need to arrive with experience or have the “perfect” starting point. The discovery session is designed to give you a feel for the process, the space I hold, and whether it feels like a good fit for you. I’ll guide you through everything at your pace — no pressure, no expectations. You don’t need to prepare anything. Just bring yourself, and we’ll begin wherever you are.
Yes — completely. Coaching is a safe, private space where you can speak freely. Everything you share in our sessions is held in full confidence, unless you give me explicit permission to share something, or unless there’s a legal or safety reason to break confidentiality (which I’d always explain first). I take your trust seriously, and I hold it with care and professionalism.
Still have questions? Let’s talk through them during your discovery session.
